SGMUN24: Day 2 Highlights – A Day of Deliberation and Festive Cheer
The second day of the St. Gallen Model United Nations Conference (SGMUN24) on Friday, December 6th, marked the beginning of the highly anticipated committee sessions, bringing the conference’s academic spirit to life.
Engaging Committee Sessions in Prestigious Settings
Delegates gathered in esteemed venues to tackle pressing global issues:
UNICEF, UN Women, and the UN Security Council convened in the elegant IHK St. Gallen, a venue befitting their critical deliberations.
Historical NATO, the Warsaw Pact, the European Broadcasting Union, and the International Press Corps held their sessions in the historic Kantonsratsgebäude of the Canton of St. Gallen, immersing participants in an atmosphere of tradition and significance.
These inspiring settings enriched the debates, fostering a deeper appreciation for the importance of their work.
A Festive Swiss Surprise: Santa Resolution
In a nod to Swiss customs, Samichlaustag brought a festive twist to the day. Delegates from the North Pole surprised participants with their "Santa Resolution", injecting a dose of humour and holiday cheer into the proceedings. This playful moment underscored the joy of collaboration and camaraderie amidst the serious discussions.
Ugly Christmas Sweater Social: Building Connections
The day concluded with the Ugly Christmas Sweater Social at the Pfalzkeller, where participants traded formal debates for festive fun.
