Between the 12th and 16th of March SGMUN sent a delegation of eleven students to CBSMUN 2025. Our delegates participated in five different committees, ranging from expert to beginner levels. Our time was also filled with many fun socials organised by CBSMUN and our own delegation, we did plenty of networking, made new friends and created many, mostly remembered, memories!
Wednesday 12th – Arrival Day
Our journey to CBSMUN 2025 began with most of the delegation hopping on the same flight to Copenhagen. After landing in the early afternoon, we made our way to the hostel — led, of course, by our ever-reliable head of events Sophia, affectionately nicknamed “Mama duck.”
After checking in, we wandered the charming streets of the city, discovering several delights along the way. Stopping at a quaint café we refilled our energy stores with coffee, hot chocolate and cake, before heading to dinner at a fantastic African restaurant. Settling on the tasting menu, platter after platter of wonderful food from all over Africa filled us to the brim, with certain delegates, who won’t be named, finishing off most dishes long after the rest of us were full. We wrapped up the evening at a board game bar just around from our hostel, where the competitive spirit of some and the suspicious nature of others was made plain.
Thursday 13th – Day One of CBSMUN
Conference day! After a filling brunch at a lovely local restaurant, we officially checked in at CBSMUN and attended a compelling opening ceremony which included a speech by Danish politician and President of the 70th UN General Assembly, Morens Lykketoft. Once the ceremony had ended, our delegates were split into their committees ranging from expert to beginner levels, including but not limited to: the United Nations Security Council, the Historical Disarmament & International Security Committee, and the United Nations Environment Programme. Though the first session was short, it set the tone with delegates introducing their position through their opening statements.
The day ended with CBSMUN’s official Reception social, where we had the chance to try traditional Danish food and to socialise with the other delegates, including a particularly friendly group from Geneva. Some of us wound down the evening watching the football match at a local bar — an unofficial social of its own.
Friday 14th – Debates & Pub Crawl
Day two brought continued intensity in committee sessions. Press conferences kicked off, allowing delegates to articulate their positions and answer sharp questions. Later, the committees hit the streets for a competitive Copenhagen tour, completing fun though sometimes embarrassing challenges to win coveted drink tickets. Some members of our delegation, specifically not those in the UNSC, to this day still insist that first place was stolen from them. The night ended with a Pub Crawl that took place between four different bars on the main party street, where we bonded with others over a variety of drinks, dancing, and (possibly questionable) singing.
Saturday 15th – Draft Resolutions & the Gala Night
Saturday was a marathon of diplomacy, with delegates focused on finalising working papers and drafting resolutions. Several delegates also took full advantage of connections with the press to attack or defend against allegations made during negotiations. But the reward came in the evening: CBSMUN’s unforgettable gala. Held at an elegant cocktail bar, the gala was an evening of celebration, quiet drama and dancing to well chosen music long into the night. Some however weren’t ready to call it a night and returned to the karaoke bar, lasting until the early hours of the next day.
Sunday 16th – Farewells & Final Resolutions
Though slightly tired and definitely a little hungover, our delegation powered through the final committee sessions, pushing forward draft resolutions and seeing them passed even when the clock was working against them.
The closing ceremony was emotional, marking the end of an incredible week. We are extremely proud to share that out of our eleven delegates, Leo, Noah, Ella, and Joshua received awards, while Alena, Elias and Quentin earned honourable mentions, a testament to the dedication and excellence of our team.
After heartfelt goodbyes with new and old friends, we grabbed a final coffee near the hostel, checked out, and made our way to the airport. With a last look at the city, we said goodbye to Copenhagen, tired but fulfilled.
Reflecting on CBSMUN 2025
For some, this conference was their first, for others it was simply another day in the halls of diplomacy. But for all it was an experience that won’t be forgotten any time soon. From the high calibre debates and intense negotiation, to the entertaining socials and friends made along the way, CBSMUN 2025 was a conference like no other and we look forward to the next one in 2026.
