The SGMUN Starters Event 2024: A Night of Diplomacy, Fun, and Connection

On the 2nd of October, the SGMUN team hosted the highly anticipated Starters Event, kicking off what promises to be another exciting year for the St. Gallen Model United Nations. With a unique blend of engaging conversations, light-hearted games, and a shared passion for diplomacy, the event brought together students eager to explore the world of international relations, debate, and public speaking.

As the doors to Oya Bar opened, attendees — both new faces and long-time members of SGMUN — were greeted by an atmosphere buzzing with excitement and curiosity. The venue, with its vibrant lighting and cozy ambiance, provided the perfect setting for networking and making connections.

Throughout the night, discussions ranged from world politics to the upcoming SGMUN24 Conference, with members and newcomers alike exchanging ideas and sharing their enthusiasm for what lies ahead. The event wasn’t all serious, though. The evening saw some friendly competition over a round of beer pong. While some showcased their aim and strategy at the tables, others enjoyed conversations over drinks, getting to know more about the club and the opportunities it offers.

One of the highlights of the night was the much-anticipated raffle, where attendees had the chance to win exciting prizes. Congratulations to all the lucky winners who walked away with some great rewards.

At its core, the Starters Event was more than just a social gathering. It reflected the heart of SGMUN’s mission: to bring together individuals passionate about diplomacy, international relations, and the art of negotiation. By the end of the night, it was clear that the SGMUN community is not just strong but growing, with new members eager to learn and make their mark. The Starters Event proved that the coming year will be full of opportunities for growth, learning, and, most importantly, unforgettable memories.

Stay tuned for more updates on our next events — and to all those who joined us, thank you for making it a night to remember!
